THE MODEL
The 2008 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive grand tourer that epitomizes Ferrari's blend of luxury and high-performance engineering. Powered by the naturally aspirated 6.0L Tipo F140C V12 derived from the Enzo, it delivers 612 hp at 7,600 rpm and 448 lb-ft of torque at 5,600 rpm, making it the most powerful Ferrari road car at its launch not part of the hypercar lineage.
The 599 GTB features an aluminum space-frame chassis (a first for a front-engine Ferrari GT), contributing to a curb weight around 3,700 lbs while enhancing torsional rigidity. Paired with either a 6-speed manual (extremely rare) or the F1 SuperFast semi-automatic transmission, the car achieves 0–60 mph in ~3.7 seconds, with a top speed north of 205 mph.
Magnetorheological dampers (co-developed with Delphi), F1-Trac traction control, and SCM adaptive suspension elevate the car's handling, allowing it to approach supercar territory while maintaining GT usability. Pininfarina styling integrates functional aerodynamics—such as the flying buttress C-pillars that channel airflow—into a silhouette that balances aggression and elegance.
As a successor to the 575M Maranello, the 599 GTB Fiorano represents a pinnacle in analog-digital transition, blending raw mechanical performance with early 21st-century electronic driver aids. For collectors and enthusiasts, the 599 remains a landmark in Ferrari's V12 lineage.
