THE MODEL
The original BMW M3 (E30) was built for homologation purposes to qualify for DTM (German Touring Car) racing. It was the start of the legendary M3 line for BMW that continues today. The S14 engine was a tour de force based upon the S38 6-cylinder engine and had a redline of 7250rpm. Only 5300 E30 M3's were imported to the US during it's production run.
The E30 M3 won the 24 Hours Nurburgring FIVE times and the Spa 24 Hours FOUR times!
THIS CAR
This car was first built to this spec back in 2015 by Jim Powell of JMFP Garage in SoCal. He spent a lot of time and $ going through the car and applying this amazing Warsteiner DTM livery wrap. He sold it in 2017 on BaT and our client purchased it from the previous owner in 2021 as a fun COVID car.
He was a fan of BMW’s and M3’s and knew several BMW mechanics who encouraged him to get the car. He used it for the first 18 months, but like a lot of us, life got in the way of regular use. He has it stored at M Service in Walnut Creek who have maintained the car for him. The owner of M Service, a 40 year mechanic of BMW’s, told me it was the nicest driving E30 M3 he’s driven in a very long time, including his own E30 M3!
As a note, the ODO isn’t working and I don’t think worked when our client purchased the car, but the mileage isn’t really an issue, this isn’t a garage queen, this is just a FUN car to take out and enjoy!
