THE MODEL
The 1989 BMW 535i Dinan Turbo is a modified version of the BMW 535i, which was originally part of the E34 generation of the BMW 5 Series. The Dinan Turbo version typically featured upgrades to the engine, suspension, brakes, and other performance-related components.
The exact specifications and modifications may vary depending on the specific Dinan package applied to the car. In terms of the engine, Dinan often increased the horsepower and torque through modifications such as upgraded turbochargers, intercoolers, exhaust systems, and engine management software. This resulted in improved acceleration and overall performance compared to the stock BMW 535i.
The suspension enhancements could include upgraded shocks, struts, sway bars, and other components, leading to improved handling and a sportier driving experience. Additionally, brake upgrades may have been implemented to enhance stopping power and overall braking performance.
THE CAR
This is a very cool BMW 5-series! It was originally purchased by Dinan Engineering from their local BMW dealership back in 1989 for the purpose of developing their Stage 3 turbo kit for this car.
After Dinan was finished with the car, they sold it to a local BMW club member who used it for various driver's school events. It eventually found it's way to Tennessee before the current owner brought it into their collection. Little did they know the true history of the car until the found the registration card in the glove box. This little piece of BMW tuner history was collaborated by Steve Dinan who now owns another amazing tuning company, www.carbahn.com.
