THE MODEL
The 1971 Porsche 911T Targa is a classic blend of style, performance, and innovation from Porsche’s iconic 911 series. Powered by a 2.2-liter flat-six engine, it delivered 125 horsepower, providing a balanced mix of driving excitement and everyday usability. The "T" in 911T stands for "Touring," making it the more accessible variant in the lineup, but it still maintained Porsche’s signature handling dynamics. The Targa roof design, with its removable center panel and iconic brushed stainless steel roll bar, offered an open-air driving experience while retaining the structural integrity of a coupe. This model captures the essence of early 911s, embodying Porsche’s engineering excellence and timeless design.
THIS CAR
Exquisitely restored to the tune of $173k in restoration receipts, this 911T Targa was repainted in its orginal Signal Orange color and has a fully rebuilt numbers matching drivetrain. We have known history from new, it was first purchased by an American GI in Germany and eventually brough back to the states. It was repainted white in period and soon after went to a second owner. The third owner (a friend of the current owner) purchased it in the mid-90's before selling it in 1997.
A perfect candidate for a restoration, the current owner completed a no holds barred restoration in 2017 and has since driven it on rallies as well as taking third in class at the prestigious Hillsborough Concours. The car currently wants for nothing and is an excellent investment piece that can still be used on a regular basis.
