THE MODEL

A 1967 Ford Mustang GT390 S-code fastback is one of the most desirable big-block Mustangs of the first-generation era. The “S-code” refers to the S engine code in the VIN, identifying the 390-cubic-inch FE V8 with a four-barrel carburetor, rated by Ford at 325 horsepower and 427 lb-ft of torque.

The '67 S-code fastback sits at the intersection of classic Mustang styling and early muscle-car performance—a relatively understated car with a large-displacement FE V8, substantial torque, and considerable collector appeal. Its rarity, particularly when equipped with the GT package and four-speed, makes an authentic, well-documented example considerably more valuable than an ordinary 1967 fastback.

THE CAR

This 1967 Ford Mustang GT-390 S-code Fastback was the subject of a restoration between 2018 and 2020, it was acquired by Golden Restorations in Ukiah, CA who completed the restoration.   Now completely restored to its original specifications with the exception of paint: 7R02S199030 left the San Jose FORD factory on 4/12/1967 in Nightmist Blue destined for South Coast Motors in Southern California. It is now finished in a period correct Ford Acapulco Blue.

This GT-390 features the GT Equipment Group, Exterior Décor Group, power steering and a Sport Deck rear seat with standard black vinyl interior and the GT interior center and overhead consoles, power steering, and an AM/FM radio.  Air conditioning is provided through the original SelectAire driver controls with a Vintage Air compressor.

This Mustang boasts a period correct replacement S-code 390ci FE V8 restored to S-Code factory specs by M&M in Hayward CA. In 2023 the Holley 650 e-choke carburetor was rebuilt, the ignition components were replaced. The S-code V8 was factory rated at 325 horsepower.

Power to the rear wheels is delivered through a Top loader 4 speed transmission with quick ratio gears.  The Limited Slip 9“ rear end was completely overhauled, 3.25-gears replaced, as was the right rear axle. The front suspension was completely rebuilt with new Koni shocks on all four corners, rebuilt control arms, and new inner and outer tie rod ends. The brakes were fully serviced with new rear drums, new front spindles, and all new steel brake lines. The Top loader 4-speed manual transmission received a new pan gasket, shifter seal, pinion seal, and fresh fluids in 2023.
