THE MODEL

The 1957 Thunderbird marked the final—and most refined—year of the first-generation "Baby Birds," and it’s widely regarded as the pinnacle of the two-seater T-Bird era. Sporting a longer rear deck, modest tailfins, and a more aggressive grille, the '57 T-Bird introduced styling updates that sharpened its stance without compromising its elegance.

Under the hood, options included the base 292ci Y-block V8 and several larger 312ci variants. These engines were mated to either a 3-speed manual, Ford-O-Matic auto, or the optional overdrive manual.

Ford addressed earlier criticisms of handling and brake fade with subtle suspension tuning and improved brakes, but the car remained a boulevard cruiser at heart. Its blend of performance, personal luxury, and distinctive styling positioned it as a unique offering—less sporty than a Corvette, but more refined and feature-rich.

With the T-Bird transitioning to a four-seater in 1958, the '57 remains the high watermark of the classic two-seat era—a collectible with both visual flair and genuine powertrain pedigree.

THE CAR

This lovely Thunderbird was produced on March 4th 1957 in the Dearborn, Michigan plant, shipped to the San Jose, CA sales center.  It is has a 312 V8 with 4 venturi carbuerator.  It is shod in Thunderbird Bronze with a Colonial White hardtop and Pleated Colonial vinyl interior.

Our client purchased the car in October of 1984 with 84,819 miles on the clock.  Under our client's care, the car has always been servied by Bill Mann, the owner of Broadway Auto Service, a noted expert in these Thunderbirds.  The car has its original interior and our client did a partial repaint the original Thunderbird Bronze.

The car is tremendously original and even the radio works!  The soft top is aged, but solid with no rips or tears.  The hardtop is in top notch condition as is the rest of the car.
