THE MODEL

In 1938 Alfa released the 6C 2500.  It was the last new model produced before WWII truly took hold.  Post war, production continued with various models. The key to this luxurious line was the larger 2,443cc inline 6 cylinder engine.  The SS (or Super Sport) variant was the most powerful with 3x Weber carburetors producing 110hp.  It was one of the most expensive and elegant cars of its era. King Faruk, Prince Rainier of Monaco and Rita Hayworth were all owners of a 6C 2500.  Bodied by Pinin Farina, these cars ushered in the more modern design lines, yet still had strong tie-in's to the Art Deco Era

THIS CAR

This 1949 Alfa Romeo 6 C 2500 Super sport Cabriolet with coachwork by Pinin Farina was produced on March 16, 1948 and first sold on March 9, 1950. It is finished in period correct red paint over cream leather upholstery and powered by its original matching number 2,443cc DOHC inline 6 cylinder engine paired with its original 4 speed all-synchromesh manual transmission and 3 – 36DO2 Weber carburetors.

The car was acquired by the owner in 2018 after a complete restoration in Europe. Prior to restoration, photos show a relatively complete, genuine and solid car. The car was disassembled, body stripped to bare metal and all other metal parts were sand blasted and zinc plated.  Prior to the current owner's acquisition, two subsequent owners had the kept the car in a disassembled state from 1976-2017.

Since the car arrived in the USA the current owner has incurred over $90,000 in rebuilding systems
including a rebuilt the clutch, starter, dynamo, carburetors, mechanical fuel pump including addition of an electric back up pump, master brake cylinder and new wheel cylinders, all gauges, rear shock
absorbers, a new period correct radiator and adjusted the timing to run as originally delivered.

This car has won several awards, including the vaunted Spirit of the Quail and Best in Class at the 2021 Ironstone Concours.  It was also shown in 2021 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and completed the Tour d'Elegance.  Driven regularly, this is not only a top of the line showcar, but one that can be driven without fear.  It is eligible for virtually all the prestigious driving events across the world, including the Mille Miglia and it has a current FIVA identity card.
