THE MODEL

The 1941 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 Seven-Passenger Formal Sedan was the flagship luxury sedan in Cadillac’s lineup, crafted by Cadillac’s in-house coachbuilder, Fleetwood. It represented the pinnacle of American automotive luxury and craftsmanship just before the U.S. entered World War II.

Visually, the 1941 Series 75 featured Cadillac’s updated styling for that year: a lower-closing one-piece hood, a wide rectangular grille with inset parking lights, and headlights integrated into the fenders. A long, formal roofline with optional leather or vinyl covering and classic running boards gave it an elegant, commanding presence.

Built on a 136-inch wheelbase, the Series 75 Formal Sedan was sized to comfortably carry seven passengers — typically with a partition separating the chauffeur from the rear cabin. The interior was richly appointed, with front seats in leather and the rear compartment often upholstered in cloth and equipped with folding jump seats, privacy windows, clocks, and reading lights.

Under the hood sat Cadillac’s venerable 346 ci (5.7 L) Monobloc L-head V8 engine, producing about 150 hp — significant power for the era. Power was delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission with column shifter. Braking was handled by hydraulically actuated drum brakes at all four corners.

As a top-tier model, the Series 75 Formal Sedan prioritized comfort and refinement. Typical equipment included upholstered rear bench and jump seats, cabin partition with roll-up window and clock, ample trim and wood accents, and often optional extras like heaters or radios.

This body style was produced in very limited numbers — with fewer than 100 seven-passenger formal sedans built in 1941 — making it highly sought after by collectors today

This particular car has an upholstered rear bench and additional jump seats, a cabin partition with electric roll-up window a clock, an in floor heater and a radio, controlled from the rear seats.  This is an amazing time capsule, it even has it's rear passenger notebook and make-up mirror.  It comes from a large private collection in Northern California.  Purportedly owned by the DuPont family and then Bill Harrah, this 7-passenger formal sedan is one of only 98 made and is in excellent mechanical condition.
