1966 AC CObra - COB6113

SOME BACKGROUND

The current owner owned a used car dealership for 50+ years on Macarthur Blvd in Oakland.  He is a serial collector.  He has tons of vintage Texaco gas station signs, pumps, memorabilia, etc.  He has many, many other non car related collections as well.

Here's a link to an article about his business to give you more background: https://www.mercurynews.com/2012/07/06/used-car-dealership-closes-after-70-years-in-east-oakland-2/

He used to race competitively in the 50'5 & 60's.  He also showed his original AC Ace at many concours back in the day.  He owned two different GT40's at one time and is very proud of all his mementos.

While he was a racer and showed cars, later in life, he had no interest in "clubs" and as such has never registered this car with the various groups that keep track of these cars.

THIS CAR

He was the 4th owner, purchased in 1980.  It originally went to South Africa for a time, was owned in England for quite some time and then sold to a gentlemen in IL.  That person was not in a position to keep the car after he imported it and the current owner purchased it then.

It's a 289 middle of the production run that AC did that ran from COB6001 - 6031.  He has a TON of paperwork on the car including the original English registration card and many AC period invoices.  You can see a selection of them below in the picture gallery.

He purports it to be the London Show Car, but I haven't had the opportunity to dig the info up on that yet.  This was originally a different color but painted red by a PO.  He does have a hard top, which he claims is one of only a handful in existence.  We went through a fair amount of his paperwork although I haven't been through all of it.

He's asking $950,000.
