1974 ALFA ROMEO 2000 GT VELOCE

THE MODEL

The Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce (also known as 2000 GTV) was introduced in 1971.  The series 115 replaced the previous 105 1750 engine GTV.  These coupes succeeded previously successful models including the Giulietta Sprint and Giulia Sprint.  The 1974 models were fitted with SPICA manual fuel injection for the American market.  These models were the pinnacle of the Alfa coupe design that ran from 1963-1977.

Muscular but with subtle curves, it effortlessly blended the former more sensuous curves with the sharper lines attributed to 1970's design.  Actively raced in period, this model handles well and pulls strongly compared to it's contemporary competitors including the BMW 2002 & Datsun 510.

THIS CAR

This original California Blue Plate car was purchased by the current owner in 1999 after rebuilding the transmission and replacing the interior for the previous owner.  Subsequent work included an engine rebuild, a repaint in it's original Pino Verde color.  The speedometer cluster was not working, showing 55,230 miles and was replaced with a new instrument cluster from Alfa Parts Exchange showing 23,000 miles.

Now showing just over 28,000 on the ODO, the current owner has added approximately 5000 miles, giving this rust free chassis approximately 60,000 total miles since new.  Please note the original clear drainage holes on the sills along with the original spot welds.  The underside shows the true condition of this wonderful time capsule.  Drive it as is or use it as a basis for a complete 100 point project.  Either way this car is ready to be driven far and wide by it's new custodian!
